Today was amazing. I got up at the time I normally would for work, and you know, as tempting as it is to sleep in when you don't have to get up, it's so very worth it to do so anyway. The day is just feels so much more productive and less stressful. So, I spent the first hour getting ready and easing myself into the day. I also have a real thing for those "Sunrise Earth" videos they show in the morning. Check it out if you have Comcast. Today was Stonehenge. About an hour long program of the sunrise coming over Stonehenge set to the sounds of just the place itself (I think). A whooshing sound of something, birds, it's just freakishly relaxing and there's all different kinds of programs for it. Tomorrow I think it's Mediterranean something.
Then, I spent about two hours deep cleaning the house. And what is it about cleaning that's so...cleansing? I went to get the resume I had emailed myself from my work computer...only to find that Vista doesn't actually have Microsoft Office (only Works) so it wouldn't let me open it at all. Guess I'll have to work on my prospecting at work rather than at home. Hah! Figures.
For dinner I made healing cabbage soup again. It just tastes so healthy and good and warm. I add some cayenne pepper and carrot to the recipe though. You should all check it out. I also made some spinach and sesame seed salad. For this recipe, you bring a large pan of water to a boil, and add a bunch of washed spinach and turn to simmer. Let it simmer for about 20 seconds or so, just long enough to make it limp but still bright green. Then, remove and run under cold water. From there, gently ring out the water and let stand for a little while to evaporate the water that is still there. While you are waiting, toast some sesame seeds. To do this, turn on a stove to high and put as many sesame seeds as you want in the bottom of a frying pan. Then, hold the pan over the hot stove until you smell them slowly beginning to roast and turning a slightly darker glossy shade. Then, sprinkle this over the spinach along with a pinch of salt and sugar. And voila! A very tasty snack.
And for desert, a cup of organic hot chocolate (the best tasting stuff around and no fat! I use Meijer brand organics), with a side of Walmart's Great Value ginger snap cookies (the healthiest cookies ever and they taste AMAZING) and a side of dried plums.
The day was absolutely heavenly. Now, I think I will end the day with some yoga and art.

Going to the Cold Stone Creamery, ordering delicious ice cream, and then putting a dollar in the tip jar so that the staff has to sing me a song.

The National Spelling Bee just made my night.
Straight faced guy who says the word that the kid must then spell: "The word is, Numnah."
Little Indian kid no more than about ten years old furrows his eyebrow a bit and gives the questioner a bit of an odd look: "Numb nut..."
BAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The announcer says, after laughter erupts throughout the stadium, "I'm going to repeat the word one more time, and then you repeat it back to me again. The word is Num-NAH"
My side splitting laughter only intensified after the follow up when the reporter asked the boy what he first thought when he believed the word he had to spell was "numb nut":
"I was sooo relieved when I realized that it was numnah, because numb nut can be spelled in soooo many different ways."
Little kid, you win forever.

What I DID know was that elephants were intelligent creatures who were also very emotional. I knew that they held funerals for their dead that they visited on a semi-regular basis and also that they cried. What I did NOT know however, was that they were also amazing artists.

A snow storm is supposedly rolling in tonight...I wonder if it'll be anything like last February's snow storm of doom. O_O
Things at work are going quite well. I've pretty much settled in and it's all going smoothly. And an extra bonus, gestapodreams landed a position too! so we're both on the business development team, which will eventually be three people at some point. They also gave me managerial access to the computer systems, and without boring you with too many details on why that's an awesome thing, just know that it's a totally awesome thing and will save me a huge amount of time. My room mate Lucius has also landed a job in the management training program at Enterprise car rental. Technically he still has one more interview to go to, but I think that's more of a formality than anything.
On the hobby side, I've been working on some balcony gardening plans the last week, mainly narrowing down different seeds that I want to order and how I'm going to have it all set up. I want to get the seedlings of my early spring veggies at least going sometime in late February or early March. Ideally, I'll have at least something growing most months of the year, so it will be kind of a continuous growing project. I'll make sure to take pictures of how it all develops and upload them so you can see the progress of my little balcony vegetable garden oasis. :D
Well, that's all for now.
